The AVT-111 is one of RCA's line of 1935-1945 light aircraft
HF transmitters. The four 6V6 tubes are crystal oscillator,
power amplifier and push-pull plate modulators. The power
supply, usually a version of the AVA-126 vibrator supply,
was mounted externally.
The transmitter is fixed-tuned with an internal crystal
for 3105 KC, which could be doubled in the final for 6210 KC.
These were the two most popular and universally guarded
aircraft-to-ground transmitting frequencies in civil aviation
prior to and for some time after WW-II. Ground transmitted
back to the aircraft on longwave, usually 278 KC.
The AVT-111 transmitter saw service in WW-II in light observation
and liaison aircraft, in ferrying service and in trainers.
Spare parts for the AVT-111 are called out specifically for
that transmitter in the Army Signal Corps "SIG-5" catalog
of materials from 1945.
Matching receivers are the RCA AVR-15 or -20.
The transmitter will readily tune any 80 meter frequency
with a crystal change- no other changes needed.
If you can receive large files,
I will scan the documents I have and send them to you.
