Yea, tell me about it. *BUT* that particular transmitter has always
been pretty hard to find, *and* it is in great shape. Most of the things
this guy has put up on ebay have been mint or near so.

My comment on this thread, which seems to get rejected by the moderator
when attempting to post to the ARC-5 list is that *there are not many
examples of good ARC-5 gear any more* especially things like the T-15.
Much of the stuff has gotten ham-hacked over the past 50 some odd years.
Much of the gear that was not "any good" for use on the ham bands has
been simply tossed over the past 60 years. Much of the stuff that is/was
usable on the ham bands has been modified.

Back in the late 70's and early 80's I had a large storage shed full of
mostly unmodified ARC-5 equipment, quite a few cables and splines
and control boxes. Could not *GIVE* the stuff away. I would take it
to hamfests with *FREE* signs on it, and most of the time have no
takers. In the mid 80's I lost my storage and had to get rid of all
of it. Offered a lot of it to organizations like the Confederate Air
Force. They didn't want it either. Back then it was considered "junk"
that is the only way I ended up with it, actually, got it from several
older local hams who had no need for it and were going to throw
away "all that old surplus junk" so I offered to take it "to play with"
back in '78 or so.

I wish I had not had to choose between throwing it away or throwing
it away, but I filled a dumpster full of quite an assortment of TX
RX cables, control splines and adaptors, etc. No one wanted it at
hamfests, no one bought but a few select bits when I listed the items
in the Yellow sheets. The only thing that sold at all were a few "special"
items like this. I had at least one T-15, a T-16, a couple of R-24s and
one or two BC-312s. Think the most I got out of any of those back in
'84 was $25 and I felt lucky to have gotten that. It really broke my
heart to have to dump the rest, but I was going to college and lost my
storage space. I liked using the stuff then and I still do.

Wish I had kept it, I could have retired early. Where were all the
ARC-5 Collectors *then*??
