Since test gear would be used for "maintenance" only, it would be best to
have gear that would accomplish the task faster than the larger, less sensitive
and harder to use WW2 vintage stuff.
Stowage of test gear is another consideration, also, since the LST had no 
Electronics
Shop, and finding space is not easy.
Compromise could be made to use the better, tube oriented stuff of the
fifties and sixties.   No need to go all miniature and solid state, of 
course....

Time spent in the Radio Room should be mainly for "operating," not 
repairing...  :-)

(Lessee....now where is that little OS-8 that was put on the shelf years 
ago?.....)  :-)
