You know I am a newbie at the technical side of the radio's in question, but
I know a little bit more about the vehicles that carried them.
I have some documentation on 2 each 1 ton radio shielded reconnaissance cars
(actually IH M-2-4 trucks) allotted per Division that carried GFRU's /TBW/MM
receiving and transmitting equipment. These rigs were to be used during island
invasion landing operations and seizure of the beachhead. This documentation
was in letter form arguing within the Marine Corps command structure on the
decision not to eliminate them in lie of the MZ series radio jeeps with the TCS.
This documentation was between the 1st and 2nd Division Marine Corps
Commanding Generals and USMC headquarters in Washington, DC between 20 April, 1943 and
8 June, 1943.

Mark Tombleson
