Sorry, I meant to send this to the whole list, not just to one person.

I run Linux instead of Windows.  I found a little program named 'cardfile'
that I'm using.  It may be hard to find since there seem to be many 
programs with that name.  Try google for   'cardfile' and 'freshmeat'
or 'Lampe'.

This is a database using a flat file, which is adequate for the typical
home library.  The first time you run it with a new file name it lets
you set up the fields you want in the database, their sizes, which ones
are index terms, and which ones are required or may be omitted.  
Thereafter you run it to add items, search, print, edit, etc.  The user
interface is rather clunky but it suits my needs fine.

I've been storing the TMs in file crates, with my cardfile index saying
which crate an item is in.  A crate is smaller to search through than a
whole shelf, and helps with the problems that things filed on edge tend
to fall over.
