First, thanks to all for the phosphor URLs. They help fill in the blanks.
Eric: I remember a Fair Radio catalog item 20 years (+/-) ago which was a 51S1 modified by someone in Greenville, TX for some obscure application which had that panadapter as an accessory. So it is possibly 455 Khz, since the next IF up was variable. End of limits of my memory.
Ben: The nominal output impedance of the RF-301 is 50 ohms. I do not know how touchy it is about SWR. The tuner allowed use over the frequency range with random antennas. For ham bands with narrow band antennas, you likely will not need it. But the spur problem needs caution.
