I assume the  one with the big pancake coil on the front, with the taps,
right? They are  actually pretty common - there are probably several
hundred in circulation  an in collections. They still fetch a pretty good
buck -  $500-1000.

They are the SCR-65 spark transmitter.  And you are correct on your  pricing. 
 They were airplane transmitters.
