[Milsurplus] BC-654A power ?

Hi all, Merry Xmas and a happy New Year to all our readers....

re the BC-654A. I have the circuit of tx/rx etc thanks to members here but I have just come to start wiring up the power plug and the circuit seems mighty complicatd, its not quite easy to see just whats needed. I'm feeding it with 12v, so it looks like its 12v- to pin 2, 12v+ to pin 5, 500v+ to pin 8. Thats all ok, but..

can I run the 12v off a 12v neg ground supply?

do pins 6/7 need 12v- ?     where does the 500v- go?

and what are pins 3 & 4 for, I'm guessing 4 is the line to turn on the 500v supply.

so, if anyone has one of these working I'd be greatful for a bit of advice.
