Hi all,
I,ve picked up a BC-459-A (black crinkle) recently in original condition (hooray, NO mods! ). To add to the Command radio data, the serial number is 1259.
Order No. 6875-NY-41
Western Electric
Original tubes were Tung Sol (there was one RCA VT-136 in final)
I wonder how this set got to Australia. Perhaps used in the Pacific aircraft?
Inside the warnig label "Do not remove this sheild
Do not change adjustment of two with blue heads
See instruction book"
There was no Y-50 xtal installed, nor the resonance indicator (V-53 (VT-138)). Were they always installed or not?
It looks like they were removed a long time ago, I'm beginning to think that they may not have ever been installed, it appears from the DC circuit in the manual that this transmitter will work OK without them being installed. Have I missed something?
Regards, Brad
