The plastic cased version is the MAB.
It was decided that direction finding
capability should be added.
The wooden-cased DAV-1 was the result.
There is a rare transition form-
a plastic-cased direction finder that snapped
on the MAB between the radio case and the top.
This is the original DAV (no suffix).
The whole assembly is too big for the
holding bag and seems fragile, which
is probably why they went ahead and
built the DAV-1 as a complete unit.
