So Clete, why did military airfields even transmit on LF? I understand the use in USA civil
avaition, where there might be a small plane landing  with just an LF beacon receiver ( or
maybe no receiver, and just warned by light gun! )

Also it seems that the military towers used a whole lot more power on LF than the USA
civilian towers did. I think the civilians used like 10 or 30 watts, i saw the power specified
in one of my books, but don't recall exactly.
