[Milsurplus] Oddball question

I entered onto active duty in the Air Force
in Feb '61.  The "service numbers" we were
given were AF########.  When I received
my commission, it changed to FV#######.
When I received a "Regular" commission, the
number changed to FR#####.  Then they
all changed to use the SSAN.  This despite
Social Security Administration rules/laws that
stated the SSAN was specifically   NOT   to be
used as an identification number for anything
other than Social Security purposes.

was given RA 1279XXXX as my service number, but
at the time, the Army was starting the use of
SSAN, so eventually, the RA number disappeared.

Draftees were given service numbers beginning
with US XXXXXXXX and folks in the National Guard had
NG XXXXXXXX.

I just don't know about the other services.
