The MC-114's that I've seen seem to mostly be holding up well, although I 
have seen a few that had gone soft and gooey.  I've seen far fewer of the 49104's 
used on the 51022's (TBY Headset-Microphone) than I have Signal Corps 
cushions.  But a number of those that I've seen look like they've melted and then 
solidified again.  I bought four replacement ones a few years ago, all still in 
the original wrap.  Three were fine.  The fourth was melted.  According to the 
person from whom I bought them, they were all four from the same collection.  
So I don't think storage conditions had anything to do with it (at least in 
this case).  However, I don't mean that storage conditions have no effect, but 
that they aren't the only things that do.
