Perhaps a solution and small PT biz opportunity exists here.
The originals are hard to find and dear.
A copy, in aspect, with FRS or CB as option would be fairly inexpensive.
Even if made with plastic, the original weight could be 'added' as is done
with many cordless phones(aside, if your handset is heavy, open it up and
remove the steel plate, if you don't consider this immoral ;-)

You won't get rich, but I bet you could sell enough to make it worth the
trouble. Would suggest wholesale to the trade here.

For a metal 'copy', it's amazing how cheap, small quantities of
stamped/beaten metal and AL castings can be had from Pakistan, Thailand,
and Vietnam.
