They weren't just in bombers.  Every cargo airplane
from C-47's on up that I ever saw up until about 1948
had one in it.  You haven't experienced a "shake test"
until you've taken off in a C-47 from a real bumpy
field.  Those transmitters had to survive when the
instrument panel was moving so bad that the instruments
were almost impossible to read.  I had one in a jeep
in Korea in '52, but we were nice to it.
