While perusing some old manuals I have here, I discovered an article
on some easily reversible modifications which can be made to the BC-
342/312 which enhance its operation.

These include:

1) Adjustment of the RF amplifiers' bias and screen voltage to give a
much higher signal to noise ratio.

2) Adjustment of values in the crystal filter to a) eliminate the severe
signal level drop when the crystal filter is switched in, and b)
enhancements to the filtering action of the filter.

3) Improving backlash in the dial.

4) Reduction of the audio hum level.

5) Connection of a send/receive switch.

6) Improvements in the audio section.

7) Improving the operation of the second detector.

8) Adding a noise limiter, "S" meter (mounted externally: i.e. no holes),
and separate RF and AF gain controls.

9)Adding a tone control.

If anyone would like to see these, I can provide them as a .PDF file.
