Another thing to keep in mind on this
discussion of BC-348 rf amps, is that
in the J, N and Q, the first rf amp is triode
connected.  A couple of 348Qs that I have
had the stage rewired as a pentode, but
in "de-modding" the circuits, I never noticed
any real change between the triode and pentode
connection. Maybe the gain pot rides in a different
place, but no practical benefit.

Not at all sure what a triode connected 6AC7 would
do for you.
