[Milsurplus] Pounds per Watt

The FM 24-24 puts the PRC-25 and PRC-77 at 23.5 lbs
for the radio alone so with harness and accessories,
yea pretty darned heavy.

Compare those weights to the PRC-68, same freq range
as the PRC-25 and 77 with 1 watt out, weighs 40 ounces.

The PRC-41A doesn't do much better at 3 watts for
44 lbs. Weren't many of the older portable UHF sets
even heavier or at least lower powered? Think the
PRC-75 was only 1 watt, but don't see a weight listed.

What was full "dressed out" weight of the PRC-6
fully batteried up with its 200mW out?

As for fixed stations -
Another heavy weight seems to be the GRC-114 used
in point to point service. 340 pounds for a quarter watt
out. Other point to point stuff is similar - the TRC-138
is a quarter watt for 5000 pounds, though that may
include shelter. The TRC-29 is a half ton for 10 watts,
not including shelter. Looking around some more in
that TM, there is the GRN-6 beacon transmitter -
1500 pounds for 250 watts nominal out.

Shame I can't find any of my Navy references at
the moment, there are several other radio items
in there, other than those previously mentioned, that
would make these Army sets look downright puny.
