Bill,
According to TM 11-487A, the SCR-188A was a BC-191 based ground systems=20
intended for use where 115 vac was available. The system included the RA-3=
4=20
rectifier unit to provide 12 and 1000 vdc for the BC-191. TM 11-487A does=20=
list=20
the 115vac BC-342 as being used in this system. Curiously, the Ft. Gordon=20
website (http://www.gordon.army.mil/ocos/museum/) lists the 12 volt BC-312 i=
nstead. =20
This may be in error, although the RA-34 would probably have been able to=20
run a 312 and 191 together.
Main use of the BC-342 was probably in the more powerful 115vac SCR-299, 399=
=20
and 499 systems. The 342 was a general purpose short wave receiver widely=20
used.
