Kapton is used to form the plate blocking capacitor in all the Thompson
and Burl (one time RCA) UHF television transmitter cavity's, between
cavity ground and the plate of the output tube sometimes with as much as
five to six KV of pulsating RF, not bad for a dielectric a little fatter
then a sheet of paper. In about twenty years of work on a number of
transmitters I have seen it puncture thru and short but never catch
fire. Perhaps if it's contaminated with lots of water or if it's a low
quality material it will burn?
