I never saw a black SRT. I always thought they were new enough to have
started coming into the fleet after the shift to haze gray radios.
The reason (or at least one reason) for modifying the TCS's for coax for for
submarine use, believe it or not. Somewhere I either have or at least have
seen something on the antenna coupler used in those installations. However, you
can still almost always spot a ham mod by one or more of several reasons.
Most ham mods that I've had through here were poorly done, used screws and nuts
instead of tapped holes, used fewer than four screws, used UHF instead of N
connector.
