[Milsurplus] TBS question

On this Navy nomenclature business - -  Did the transmitters start with
TA or TAA?  Was TAX used?  How about the Receivers?  Apparently the DF
sets started with two letter nomenclature, but I am still looking for the
earliest (DA?) citation.
