If we're going to speak of operating systems, The top shelf should be
visited briefly as well.
VMS is most secure, and I use it at home with the free license. If
it's good enough for NORAD and JSTARS, it's good enough for me.
There is no 'rooting' or hacking into a VMS system, nor worms, nor
viruses, nor loss of data (indeed even when the WTC datacenter went
down), nor crashing the IP stack from DNS attacks or badly written
programs, etc. on and on. Our computer group took an Alpha (VMS
desktop "PC") to DEFCON9, and subjected it to 5000+ hackers for 3
days. Nobody even scratched tbe box. In fact they gave up on it.
It is a bit more work to install than Redmond BorgWare or LINUX, but
the real point is, "where do you keep your Important Data"?
