I've found that another type of gun oil, namely CLP-Break Free, works
wonders for restoring the look of dirty or time-worn military crinkle
paint finishes. The excess left after wipe-down seems to dry out in a
day's time, leaving a much fresher look to the paint.

It also works well restoring some of the faded plastic name plates such
as are found on late model BC-348-R units. It doesn't work so well on
those that have a laminated layer on them, since the oil can't penetrate
the lamination.

CLP-Break Free is one of the higher priced gun oils, but I try to get it
in larger military surplus quantities at gun shows. I've used it for
years, and I've never had to re-do an application. (It works well on
guns too, being the currently accepted standard in the US military.)
