Hi,
I like to copy code on an old mill and have a bunch of dried up ribbons. =
 I
realized that the dye did not go away, only the vehicle for it so I did
some experimenting.  First I applied some WD-40 to a ribbon, which typed
great until it quickly dissipated.  Next I tried gun oil, and it worked
great.  What I did was drip oil around the outer perimeter of the ribbon =
on
the spool, maybe about 10 drops total.  After 24 hours it typed well
without bleeding.  =
