Hello Paul,

AR60's are rather rare. I don't think I've ever actually
seen one. At $495 dollars, not many ham's responded to the
original QST advertisement. I've been working on the
history of RCA short-wave sets in the 1930's and 40's, and
I'm coming to the conclusion that RCA knew more about high
performance receivers than anyone else.

If, as you indicate, there was a second version of the AR-60
using octal tubes, that IS NEWS! Can you post pictures?

RCA used an output limiter to provide pseudo-AVC for CW use
in several of their receivers including the RAB and RBB/RBC
superhets and the RAK/RAL TRF-autodynes. The AR-60 was
designed in the time period between the RAB and RBB/RBC.

Regards,
Al
