I'm forwarding this from another list that also runs off QTH.net server. As
you may already know our Milsurplus remailer server is privately owned and
run by Al Waller K3TKJ a fellow ham. Evidently things are getting very
critical to the continuance of his personal funding to keep this great
service to hams, hobbyist and collectors alive and well. If you can help out
with a donation to the cause that would be greatly appreciated by all.
Thank you,
Ralph W4XE / AAT4UU

Although what follows appears in the first of the month 'mailman' subscriber
notice, I am reposting it here because many of you do not read your
subscriber
list notice.
QTH is in serious financial trouble. If we do not help financially, it will
cease to exist in several months. This is not a fntasy, this is a cold hard
fact. Do nothing and they will be only a memory by the end of the year.
Take a few minutes and just consider the benefits you get out of any one of
the
QTH.net lists annually. General information, technical assistance,
specialized
information on all sorts of topics and equipment, reports from listeners of
MW,
LW, SW, VHF, beacons and etc., state Ham lists, a forsale area, help with
computers, ability to post for a wanted item and dozens and dozens more. How
will you feel when this is no more?
Just join some other lists somewhere? Sure, you can do that. But you will
NEVER
find the incredible population of technical expertese located on the QTH.net
lists, the absolutely fantastic treasure trove of information that just does
not
exist elsewhere, the depth of knowledge from a diverse group that knows
about
every facet of the radio hobby that anyone could ever want to know and the
most
caring and helpful Hams and radio hobbyists to be found anywhere on this
planet.
This is absolutely priceless! Once it is gone, it is gone! Do not be that
foolish to let this unequaled resource of information die, because if you
do, we
will live to regret our own stupidity.
Please send Al Waller, K3TKJ whatever you can manage. If all of us sent him
a
dime, he would have cash coming out his ears. But the sad truth is, about
one
tenth of one percent of us send him anything. There is no such thing as a
free
lunch, it costs money for the antacids to get rid of the indigestion! So
read
what follows and help as much as you possibly can. The answer to one
technical
question, the finding of one piece of much wanted equipment or the profit
from
the sale of one rx/tx is worth something, so please keep QTH.net up and
running.

QTH mailing lists are funded by user contributions. We are CRITICALLY
short of funding and request your support. It does not have to be a big
donation, the average contribution is about 15 dollars. With the
number of users we have it should only be necessary to donate every
few years, BUT.... most of you are ignoring these requests. The same
users keep the QTH lists alive and it's not proper to expect them to
continue this forever. If you use these lists and they are important
to you then help us, otherwise they will be gone in a few months.
QTH lists are for Hams and are operated by Hams, we strive to keep the
lists private, spam free and a fun place to increase your knowledge,
meet new friends and play radio in general. Our hobby is being
attacked from all directions at the moment and now more than ever we
need your support to keep this venue open.
