Well, I opened my ' 25D last night. Absolutely immaculate inside. After I
DeOxited the turret and reassembled it, there is no more drift on bands
9.5 Mhz and above. Stable as a rock after I let it warm up a
LOOOOONG time.
One of the little #323 lamps is toast though. Anyone know where I can
get a couple? I managed to get the bad one apart, but it looks like it is
press-fitted into some sort of nylon cylinder. I thought the #323 lamp
was mounted in some sort of collared metal cylinder.
I still have hum, more noticeable as I go up in frequency, but I have not
changed anything yet. I'll gather the parts, read the 73 pages of notes I
found on the internet, and buy Hollow State News and Dallas Lankfords
notes before I dig into it. It is working pretty well for now.
I found an added circuit board in it which had 3 diodes (one is probably
a Zener) and 2 ea 2200 mfd 10VDC electrolytics on it. Looked to be
factory, but it sure isn't on my schematic. Possibly a regulated DC
supply for the oscillator filaments? Anyone know? Anyone else ever
seen one of these mods?
Sure smelled good in there...
