This is getting unnecessarily complicated.  I have replaced damaged,
unreplacable, vibrators with the simple transistor multivibrator many times
with excellent results; efficiency is slightly better, and there is no
vibrator hash.  This is direct replacement - no circuit modification is
necessary.  (See "GRC-9 Operating Notes," Electric Radio, April 1998, pgs
31-33.)
