Todd and Group,
If yours is built like mine, the chains are like a lot of lamp and fan switch
pull chains and it's relatively simple to pop the ball out of the thingy that
looks like a ring lug on either end. The sleeving on mine is plastic tubing,
not rubber, and on all seven chains is still free to slide up and down the
chain. The tubing (which is not shrink tubing) looks just like some I have in
the shack. Should be able to buy it somewhere. Here in Houston, I'd start
with Ace Electronics (local industrial surplus place) and then try McMaster-Carr.
My "keeper" set and a couple of parts sets are all dead so far as
radioactivity is concerned. I'm not sure it's a guaranteed clue but the paint on mine is
all dead white, no trace of yellow.
I have a few CW-206/GR Roll (Bag) for the mast sections and accessories, some
mast sections, and either one of the two headsets specified in the earlier
and later manuals. I think that's all the extra accessories I have left, except
some of the spare parts cases, which you already have, and the parts to build
the headset extension cable (CX-1334/U but it wouldn't say CX-1334/U of
course). Since you mentioned the vibrator hum you must have one of the power
cords. The radio end right angle connector on all three power cables is the same
one used on the R-389, 390 and 391 plus several other places. They're not that
difficult to find but most that turn up will have a cable clamp or gland made
for a very large cable, like 21/32" OD. Another list member has dibs on the
last two I have with small glands.
