My jeep in Korea in the early 50's had an AN/GRC-9 and a GRR-5 receiver. =
 As mentioned one of the primary reasons for the receiver was for "CBR" =
alerts, but since the likelyhood for this was remote we used the =
receiver to monitor the artillery to know when things would be going =
overhead.  I had an engineer combat company and my jeep driver would =
monitor the artillery as well as the traffic on the Angry-9. I have my =
original M-38 outfitted now as the one in Korea....

I use the Angry-9 on the ham bands mobile...always get the distinctive =
chirp reports for which they are famous.

Just a bit of nostalgia.
