Dave, the lower frequency equipment was still used right up to the end,
was not obsolescent. I mean the frequencies in the 1- 3 MHz band. But
this was for longer range work, not short range convoy and and combat
operations. The enemies seemed to make much more use of lower
frequencies than we. I have a Japanese 2-watt portable which still has
a 1640 kHz crystal in it. I notice that in 'Nam, one VC Chinese made radio,
the No. 63, a backpack portable PRC-10 size, tunes 1.5 - 6 MHz.
