The point about being bombed at the time is very apposite, as is the
business of overworking (8 hours on the job, 8 hours firewatching, and 8
hours for the rest of your day!)


One point that seems to have been overlooked in this discussion is that the
war started for us in late 1939, not late 1941. If we had waited for all the
wonderful US stuff that was eventually produced, the operating labels would
have had to be in German!
