GFE still means Government Furnished Equipment. It can be a single
item of equipment, a tech manual, or even an entire airplane or
ship, ground vehicle, etc.
More recently, the use of the "GFE" stamp or tag has been discontinued
and replaced by a specific form that's kept on file by the government
and the contractor. The form identifies the GFE by federal stock number,
nomenclature, serial number, etc., as appropriate.
