I built a bike-type generator. Actually an old Sears exercise bicycle 
with a ratcheting-flywheel. Flywheel drives two seriesed sprockets 
and chains to a solidly mounted GN-58 for use with my AN/GRC-
109. I can actually pedal the generator while I man the bug. Try 
that with your hand-cranked genny.
