I have certainly heard that repeatedly. OTOH, I have also been told repeatedly
that the way to use the A set is without the variometer; that the 19 set is
useless on R/T, that the microphones are all dead after these many years, that
reforming caps is a waste of time,  that vertical aerials work best, and several
other things.

None are true, IMNSHO.

I think it'd be fun to see how well the B set really works.
