Very good point. It has seemed to me, from some of the equipment
i've seen, and manuals that seemed almost baroque in detail, that
the USA had a well staffed, well paid engineering level, just
itching to produce fine new products. I think you can see this
capacity, actually i think it "over-capacity", especially in the
specialized trade magazines of the years, for example "ELECTRONICS". And on down the line, fine
modern factories
and transportation system, all undisturbed, and unthreatened.

-Just a mint. I've read that Desert Rats in their radio jeeps,
used the BC-191 / BC-312. And i see that the USA type
18M (NOT WS18) was also used by U.K. in North Africa.
-Also, notwithstanding the above, the WS38 still looks, to me,
"cheesey". But that doesn't mean unlikeable.
