    "The Search For Amelia Earhardt," 
        1966 Fred Goerner

He was a reporter given leave from, I think, ABC to "get the facts, man"

Was fun to read years ago but, as I remember, left more questions
than it answered.

One memory remains & that's mention of a new "secret df system" 
installed in the Lockheed 10.

Wonder if that's the "unilateral" precursor to the DZ series.  The
NRL inventor's unique-heading RDF.

If so, the to-from conjecture should have ended long ago.  If not,
Noonan's failure to "turn, wait, then re-null the loop" should
have been blamed.

Dates are right for a prototype DZ.
