Dennis,
Replacement of the FL-43-A with the F-147/U was the major part of the MWO I
mentioned earlier. It eliminated being able to run the SCR-284 from the
PE-162-B. Basically turned the -B into a -C, although the generator remained
the GN-50-A as apparently swapping the generator would have required swapping
the engine for mechanical reasons. There is a supplement to the '45 edition
of TM -971 that applies, plus there is a later edition of TM 11-971 that
covers the -C and modified -B as well as the -A.
I've been looking for an -A or unmodified -B for years but never have found
one. Every -B I've turned up had the MWO.
>This is the filter box installed on my PE-162-B. The 162 is a compact,
lightweight portable MG set consisting of gasoline engine GE-12-D (two
cycle) and generator GN-50-A. Delivers 6.2 and 500 vdc at 150 watts. In
addition to the GRC-9, my manual (TM 11-971, July 45) lists the SCR-284-A,
SCR-694-C, AN/TRC-2 and AN/TRC-2-A for use with this MG set.
My manual actually lists filter box FL-43A for use with this MG set and that
box included a connector for use with the SCR-284. However, my set has the
F-147U box installed which does not have this connector. I have a
refurbished unit and replacement of the original filter box may have been
done as part of this process.
