Todd,
What you found is probably the standard DC power connector for the later
Vietnam war era gear. The engaging screw gender is reversed from what it is
on the Korean war versions, and the pins are a little shorter so that if you
remove the back and engaging screw (nut), you may be able to notice that it
doesn't seem to go in as far as it "ought to". It will actually work if you
use a machine screw of the right thread pitch but you have to be careful not
to over tighten.
