I have a Japanese aviation microphone from WW2 that is
along the same lines. I believe this item is extremely rare and
seldom seen, let alone known to exist. This microphone was
apparently strapped to the face by an elastic band. I suspect
that this was not particularly comfortable to wear, and maybe
the crappy condition of used ones discouraged the bringing
back of more by souvenir hunters, or perhaps this ugly design
was not used in great numbers. I always wondered how ( if )
this style microphone was used together with oxygen supply.
