There's no SCR-301 thru SCR-398

There's no BC-501 thru BC-599

But everyone probably knows that but me

However I do know* that all post-1940 Louisiana/E-Texas test on-
ground radios were SCR-500 series.

There being a small scale exception in the Link BC-499 & BC-500
6VDC FM 2-ways that were assembled as the SCR-293*** & served 'til
SCR-508 chrome-button FM sets started rolling outa WECo & Galvin**
(Motorola) in late '42 .

Link FM sets very rare but, wudn't u know, a pair came w. yesterday's RA-34H

As did a BC-322/SCR196... and dad-bust-it, I left the handset behind

One last 'un. FM chosen over AM as much for "capture effect" as static
immunity - can u gess qrn made by tank tracks? Link picked as stop-gap
'cause great success w. Connecticut State Police. Acft. folks ignored
FM because big ground advantages diminished in air. And, of course, NIH.

Imagine all the ignition shield savings if AM mobile abandoned in '40.

**Link got his PM ckt.s direct fm Armstrong & Galvin got wrapped around
his own axle with FM & general NIH. Link & Galvin hated each other
but u know who won. It's suspected Galvin sic'ed the fed lawyers on
   Link in '46 for gouging on the BC-499 & 500 (SCR-293) sets. Don't
   we have a great system?

My source chatted w. Link @ a St. Louis conference in a swimming pool
30 yr.s ago. Link was very technical and, amazingly, great business-
   man too.
