I have a 260. Wonder if we could just take the meter movement out of it and
replace your escutcheon so the authentic look is maintained?

I have a Simpson VOM, looks like a 260 variant, also marked
IS-89 U. S. Army. It has the meter shot, marked "upper hairspring".
I could just toss it, but...the meter escutcheon/ frame has this marking
also: USNAS ALA. Now that is enuff to make me start looking for
another IS-89 or civilian equivalent to steal the meter from. But, i
sure have enuff projects. Is there one of the usual suspects here who
would like to take this on? You are qualified as an adoptor by being
one of the usual WW2 av-radio fans, and (Boolean AND) knowing
what USNAS ALA. is. Anyway, i think the thing has enuff instilled
"charater" it deserves to soldier on.
Tnx, Hue Miller
