Dave, To add to what I sent earlier... ---- any sharp blade will
assist the scrape... I use a headband magnifier to get real close and
see what is happening. The lettering is raised and i can only
reiterate that you need a delicate touch.
Putting the sprayed panel in the oven is the only way to get a
uniform wrinkle ---- a couple of thin coats will give you a fine
wrinkle . Thick coats make a coarser finish The can says air drying
is Ok but doesnt give even temperature.
Try it first on a bit of scrap Al. and do your knobs as well.

Dave ,,,,,, with all due modesty, I reckon I'm a bit of a dab at the
front panels of BC -348. I've done about 12 over the last few years .!
Strip off the old with paint stripper, clean well , I use VHT brand
(ex USA) pressure pack wrinkle finish from auto stores Use no
undercoat, Spray on a couple of lIght coats.
Then put it in the kitchen oven when the missus goes shopping----
smells a bit off putting--- and let it bake at about 100 C for an hour
or so.
I then wait a few days for paint to harden properly and then with the
aid of a sharp scraper .knife take the paint off the tops of the
lettering CAREFULLY. !.
Looks original if you do it well.
Cheers
Pete.
GE List. I want to repaint my front panel. It appears that the
lettering
is raised. Is this correct??
