Agree the dip (Tarn-X, et al) is a good cosmetic cleaner and does seem 
to convert some of the sulfide back into elemental silver.  The only 
downside I know of came from Bobbi Barmore, who is a radio/TV station 
chief engineer as well as enjoying restoring old rigs.  According to her 
research, the dip also etches the surface, leaving a honeycomb of air 
holes that promote quicker sulfiding.  I guess one worries about that a 
bit more when you're pumping out 50,000 watts.  :-)  

I've used a wipe-on silver polish ever since (Hagarty's) that time and 
it does seem to last longer, but it is certainly a bit more trouble to 
apply than a dip.
