The "North West Military Radio Enthusiasts" (NWMRE) proudly presents the
Second Annual:
MILITARY RADIO FIELD DAY AND DISPLAY
Who? A loosely affiliated group of Ham Radio operators determined on
preserving the equipment and the finer points of military communications
and
gear!
What? An "in the field" set-up outing of military radios and
assorted/associated gear.
Why? A good excuse to set-up, operate and display military radio gear
from
the last 60+ years. We don't just collect this crap, we use it!
Where? Willamette Mission Park, Area B in Salem, Oregon. Located on
Wheatland Rd., 8 mi. N of Salem. Take I-5 Exit 263 and follow the signs.
Lat: 45.079727 N Lon: -123.030663 W
When? Saturday and Sunday, 28th and 29th of June 2003. Folks will be
getting
there and setting up from Friday the 27th at Noon. The main part of the
Shindig will be Saturday the 28th 8am to 5pm.
How? Get in your car, tank, jeep, motorcycle, battleship, B-24. Whatever
you
do, just get there!
You are welcome to camp overnight (there is a nominal camping fee) Friday
night the 27th and/or Saturday night the 28th. Bring uniforms, sleeping
bags, cots, food, etc.
You will thrill to the often death-defying operation of some or all of
the
following gear: GRC-106, PRC-6, PRC-10, PRC-25, PRC-47, PRC-74, PRC-77,
PRT-4/PRR-9, TRC-75, Field Phones, Remote Equipment, Teletypes, Mine
Detectors, Uniforms and accessories, and many other strange, bizarre and
unexpected Greenthings.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime (year?) festivity that it would sad to miss.
Well, it may not be that great, but it will be fun. Tell, invite or drag
family and friends along! Talk-in will be 51MHz FM, 150Hz tone. We will
also
monitor the 145.29 MHz repeater if we have to! RTTY ClatterNet will be
Saturday morning at about 09:30 PST on 10.137 USB 850 Hz MARK 1575 Hz
(Mark
Low) SPACE 2425 Hz (AKA Military shift and mode) This mode and frequency
will be monitored all day, so give us a call if you can't attend! There
will
also be the option of operating AM, FM and SSB phone (Frequencies TBA)
and
likely the appearance of the dreaded "code key" for the brave-of-heart.
