All the huffing and puffing has neglected the fact that, except for reserve
auctions, it takes TWO bidders to run the price on anything up beyond the
starting bid. Thus, it MUST be worth the winning price to someone, and almost
that much to the second place finisher.
Personally, I have gone to well over 200 ham flea markets since the late 1970s,
plus many surplus stores locally and wherever I've traveled. Now I'd rather sit
on my butt and surf the site. It's many times more productive. Many of the items
I now own, I had never seen (and I never even knew some existed) before eBay. I
don't like some of their policies, but let's not throw the baby out with the
bath water.
