This little gray wrinkle finish box surfaced recently. Unfortunately, it
has been badly hamized. The 5 crystal sockets and 3 of the relays have
been removed. Irreversible is the set of 4 holes in the rear apron for a
crystal socket. Both covers missing. Hey, it was this way when I got
it. I don't think the coils have been pruned. I can't tell if it is a
varistor or disc ceramic on the right side transformer (6261) which has
the lead to Tx pin 2 snipped. Four of the 6 pins on J-2402 have been
soldered to. Quarter inch hole in the center of the front at the very
botom? Looks original and unused? I guess there is a strip or someting
missing across the bottom of the front as there are 4 empty threaded
holes also. Real shame, it has enough damage to make it pretty tough to
restore, but what's still there looks so purty.
Now, the only reason I offer this transmitter is the Aircraft Radio
Corporation nameplate still on the front with the 164 serial, and the
patent notice plate inside.
Any interest in this, contact me off list. Includes 4 - 5763s but no
shields. I'd just like to get enough to make it worthwhile for me to
properly package it.
73,
George
