[Milsurplus] What is a UF -1 radio

I have a manual (NAVSHIPS 900,223) on the Navy Model UF (which consists of 
the Models UG or UG-1 and UH).  It is, as Bill said, carrier control or line 
terminal equipment, no radios.  Manual mentions use of the UF in conjunction 
with VHF sets like the AN/TRC-1 (70-100 MC).

So my conclusion would be that the UF-1 nomenclature on the radio is someone 
elses nomenclature, whatever it might have been used for.
