The following article in the Feb. 5 issue of the European Stars and
Stripes concerning the disposition of the AN/FRD-10(A) CDAA antenna at
Rota, Spain was brought to my attention. While the FRD-10 designation
covered a huge number of individual equipments, essentially a two story
building full, the antenna was of course, the dominant visual feature of
these sites. The two photographs in the article give some evidence of
the size and complexity of the antenna array. I believe the building is
essentially empty of any related DF equipment, and the antenna is the
only remaining part of the system. Look quick, they will all be gone
soon, and all the FAS "intelligence" about these sites will be obsolete.
Wonder if they will bother to acknowledge that, or continue to carry
pictures of sites which no longer exist?
